Job duties

  • Surface Preparation:Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and patching holes or cracks to ensure a smooth and uniform finish. Preparation also includes masking and covering areas not intended for paint.  Ensures items are properly hung and removed from conveyor hooks.
  • Paint Application:Apply paint and other finishes to surfaces using a sprayer, ensuring proper coverage and consistency. Understands the painting process, efficiently operates the paint gun, and makes equipment adjustments as necessary to produce quality finish.
  • Equipment Maintenance:Maintain and clean painting equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Safety Compliance:Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling chemicals, and operating equipment to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment. Follow safety protocols and use protective equipment as required.  May perform basic material handling duties with the use of manual pallet jack and/or forklift to move material and stage materials.
  • Quality Assurance:Inspect surfaces for imperfections, drips, or uneven coverage, and make necessary touch-ups or adjustments to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Communication:Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements, provide progress updates, and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Documentation:Maintain accurate records of materials used, hours worked, and tasks completed for billing and reporting purposes.
  • Problem Solving:Identify and troubleshoot any issues related to surface preparation or paint application and implement effective solutions to minimize delays or disruptions.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Previous work experience as a painter or similar role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in surface preparation techniques, paint application methods, and color matching is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are also important.
  • Familiarity with different types of paints, finishes, and coating materials, as well as safety regulations related to painting, is desirable.

 

Preferred Skills Technical Capacity

  • Previous experience in painting or general labor preferred.
  • Knowledge of painting techniques and materials
  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
  • A self-starter

  • Ability to read blueprints and follow instructions
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks

  • Required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to differentiate between colored paints

Position Summary

The Project Estimator plays a critical role in the evaluation, development, and pricing of Retroflex equipment. This position is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and data-driven cost estimates for both standard and custom-designed flexographic and gravure printing and coating equipment.  Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Sales, the Project Estimator ensures all estimates reflect technical requirements, manufacturability, and company objectives while maintaining competitiveness in a global marketplace. This role ensures pricing integrity while supporting engineering feasibility, procurement alignment, and sales competitiveness. This role is essential in translating customer needs into viable, cost-effective machine solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for flexographic presses, gravure systems, coating equipment, unwinders, rewinders, and related machinery
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to determine material, labor, and subcontractor costs
  • Maintain and update pricing models, cost databases, and estimating tools
  • Ensure estimates reflect current market pricing for raw materials, components, and fabrication processes
  • Partner with engineering to understand design complexity, manufacturability, and technical constraints
  • Work with procurement to validate supplier pricing, lead times, and availability of components
  • Coordinate with sales to align estimates with customer expectations and project scope
  • Analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy and consistency
  • Contribute to the development of standardized estimating tools, templates, and workflows
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)

3+ years of experience in estimating, manufacturing, or industrial equipment design

Experience with flexographic printing, gravure coating, or converting equipment strongly preferred

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, and manufacturing processes

Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and cost estimation tools

Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities

Our Mechanical Detailer/ Designer will prepare drawings for mechanical devices and machines.

Job duties

Exercise critical judgement in creating designs that perform functionally and meet project specifications while considering key aspects of safety, cost, compliance, ability to fabricate, ergonomics and aesthetics.

Create 3D models of parts and assemblies using SolidWorks and perform applicable calculations where needed

Zero-line dimension on all layouts, and reference locations, as required

Identify all critical locating points and/or surfaces

Clearly label and illustrate all part sizes, part ranges, and overlap of stations on either side of design

Show all views as required, labeled with stock flow arrows

Determine build-up of tolerances between details and final assembly of customer part prints

Show all motions (extend and retract) and potential interferences areas

Add design intent to layouts where the intent of the design or ideas are not clear

Balloon all manufacture parts on assemblies, with any odd or special materials labeled

Balloon all purchased components on assemblies with all the appropriate ordering information

Prepare a preliminary sequence of operation chart, and coordinate the transfer of information to electrical engineering and to fluid power engineering, to not cause a delay in the project schedule

Respond to manufacturing request for technical assistance during the build of the equipment

Enter bills of material electronically for all manufacturing and purchasing items and ensure information can be easily identified for ordering and is against the correct subassembly

Document, compute quantities, determine materials needed and evaluate cost for machinery to be manufactured

Collaborate with suppliers to source components that meet design specifications and quality standards.

Plan mechanical drawings by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents; conferring with engineers and product designers

Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents

Prepare supporting information by developing bills of materials, standard parts, and fasteners

Modify drawings by analyzing, resolving, and incorporating changes

Create support materials such as engineering books and technical manuals. 

Keep the Project Leader informed (on a weekly basis) of progress to meet the completion date

Participate in meetings

Comply with legal requirements by adhering to codes and regulations

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications

Travel to customer facility for project meeting and/or design reviews, or as required

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Certificate or Associate Degree in Mechanical Design required

Minimum of two years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the printing and coating industry.

Experience in design, repair, and analysis of printing equipment a plus.

Job duties

Design and detail custom and standard converting equipment with primary focus to be (but not limited to) the flexographic and gravure industries.  This includes printing and coating machinery as well as ancillary equipment such as enclosed reverse angle doctor blade systems, unwinds, rewinds, chill sections, dryers, accumulators, and tension systems.

Modify drawings by analyzing, resolving, and incorporating changes.

Oversee product development from design to implementation, monitoring status of all assignments and reporting to ownership.

Conduct analysis and simulations to ensure product performance and reliability.

Support testing and validation of mechanical designs.

Produce specifications for products and choose necessary raw materials and components to be used in production.

Collaborate with suppliers to source components that meet design specifications and quality standards.

Support Sales and Customer Service and Field Service needs.

Be proficient with computer programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Word, Excel, Macola, Synergy and others as required.

Perform administration services including submittal reviews, punch list inspections, and project closeout.

Create support materials such as engineering books and review technical manuals prior to release.

Travel may be required from time to time, to perform on site analysis as well as measuring equipment and assisting with start-up and training. 

Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

B.S. in engineering required.

Minimum of two years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the printing and coating industry.

Experience in design, repair and analysis of mechanical systems

*Experience in flexographic printing preferred.
