Our Mechanical Assemblers set-up and assemble custom converting equipment specific to the flexographic and gravure industries. This is to include printing and coating machinery as well as ancillary equipment such as doctor blade systems, unwinds, rewinds, chill sections accumulators and tension systems.

 Job duties

  • Read mechanical assembly drawings, as well as pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
  • Perform all aspects of assembly from attaching parts on unit to attaching unit to assembly, subassembly or frame using hand tools and power tools.
  • Route, wire, assemble, and connect electrical controls and manufacturing equipment per drawings and/or blueprints.
  • Perform basic pneumatic/hydraulic/conduit layout and hook-up.
  • Disassemble unit and prepare for shipment.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Process spare parts and consumable items including cutting, counting, inspecting, and packaging for shipment. This also includes creating packing slips and completing the required documentation.
  • Inspect all required components (incoming and outgoing) per Retroflex supplied drawings.
  • Operate both stationary and moving overhead cranes.
  • Perform required duties relative to proper inventory control, and documentation of all items (incoming and outgoing).
  • Perform general labor duties such as floor sweeping, custodial services, general maintenance and working directly with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Five years of assembly work experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings of mechanical assemblies, electrical drawings, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics experience a plus.
  • Experience with flexographic and gravure machine assembly preferred.

  • Proficient with the use of micrometers, calipers and other devices required for inspection.
  • Operate machine tools such as a drill press, band saw, milling machine, grinder, arbor press and other related equipment required to manufacture and alter parts.
  • Proficient with the use of wrenches, drill motors, taps, dies and other hand tools and devices required for machine assembly.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must have manual dexterity to assemble products or machines as directed – Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance.
  • Required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to differentiate between colored paints, wires, tabs, and electronic components.
